Chief of Dera Sacha, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Granted Month-Long Parole

Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who was convicted for the rape of two of his followers was allowed one-month parole.

He had been lodged in Sunaria Jail in Rohtak since 2017. He is likely to visit the Dera Sacha Sauda ashram at Barnawa in UP’s Baghpat.

Previously, in February, he was granted a 21-day long leave from jail. During this period, he was protected by z-level security to the threat to his life from Pro-Khalistan groups. Also, he was not allowed to meet anyone except for his family members.

Before that, he had also been given multiple emergency paroles to him to meet his ailing mother.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was jailed for a term of 20 years for raping two of his disciples at his ashram in Sirsa, Haryana, where the organisation’s headquarters is located. In 2017, he was convicted by a Special CBI court in Panchkula.
