Chief Justice of Kerala S. Manikumar Waylaid by Drunken Kochi Man; Accused Arrested

According to media reports, Kerala High Court’s Chief Justice S. Manikumar’s official vehicle was stopped by a man near Goshree Bridge in Kochi at around 2 am on Monday. 

Reports said that Chief Justice Manikumar was returning from the airport via Container Road when the accused man, identified as Tijo, jumped in front of the vehicle and started verbally abusing the senior-most judge of the State.

On the complaint of Chief Justice’s security staff Antony Perera, the Muluvukkad police have registered a case against the accused and arrested him.

The complainant alleged that the accused, riding on his scooter in a rash and negligent manner, blocked the vehicle of the Chief Justice and wrongfully prevented the Chief Justice from proceeding to his destination.  The complainant also alleged that the accused tried to threaten and create fear of death.

The police have accordingly, registered a case against the accused under Sections 279, 294 (b), 353, 308, 341, and 506 of the IPC.
