The Central government informed the apex court that the plea alleging attacks on Christians in India has no merit and that the petitioner has provided false reports and has resorted to falsehood.

In an affidavit filed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was alleged that most of the incidents cited by petitioners were wrongfully projected in reports.

The Centre stated that the information was gathered from various new sources, independent online databases, and reports and findings of NGOs, which were false.

Minor, personal incidents and conflicts were portrayed as attacks on Christians.

“About 162 incidents were not truthfully recorded and the remaining 139 were either false or deliberately projected wrongfully as instances of targeted violence against Christians,” the affidavit stated.
