CBI Probes New ‘Bribe for Visa’ Case Against Congress MP Karti Chidambaram

Central Bureau of Investigation probe the case against Congress MP and son of Former Union Minister Karti Chidambaram.

Central Bureau of Investigation had made search in nine places including offices and resident and took sum documents from his house at 80 Lodhi Estate in Delhi.

The Case was about providing Visa to 250 Chinese Nationals for Power project in Punjab during the period of 2010-14 in exchange of illegal gratification.

Karti Chidambaram posted a tweet stating “I have lost count; how many times has it been? Must be a record.”

There were many cases being investigated against him. First one was when his father was Finance Minister, he was alleged that to get Bribe of Rs. 305 Crores for providing clearance certificate from Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to INX media.

The investigation of INX media leads to the closure of visa bribe case.

On May 15, 2017 the Corruption Case was filed then Enforcement Directorate launched Money Laundering Case under Prevention of Money Laundering Act based on Central Bureau of Investigation’s First Information Report. In 2018 he was arrested but got Bail in one month.
