Bulli Bai: Mumbai Police Arrests one more, Centre blocks Telegram channel targeting Hindu women

The Mumbai Police on January 5, 2022 Arrested Mayank Rawal aged 21 years from Uttarakhand in relation with the “Bulli Bai” case, after which it Arrested one female from Uttarakhand and another male engineering student from Bengaluru.

The Mumbai Police states that the female 18-year-old Shweta Singh from Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand is the mastermind behind the online application “Bulli Bai” in which she used to post of pictures of Indian Origin Muslim women for auctioning via three different accounts that she made in the App.

In view of a report by IndiaToday, it has been found that the 18-year-old Shweta Singh lost her father to corona virus in 2021 and her mother to cancer. The report also stated that Shweta Singh had an account on Twitter with the username of JattKhalsa07 via which she posted the derogatory pictures and comments regarding the Victims.

Earlier the Mumbai Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons in regards with complaints from several women stating the existence of the objectionable and misogynistic online application which is degrading and demeaning to not only Indian Muslim Women but all females in general.

While the Police is investigating the perpetrators and the issue of the ‘Bulli Bai’ online application case which was hosted by GitHub, there has been found the presence of a new Telegram channel which is posting objectionable pictures of Hindu Women.

The Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on January 4, 2022 in regards with the Telegram Channel posted on Twitter stating “Channel blocked. Government of India coordinating with police authorities of states for action.”
