Bulli Bai App Case: A 917-Page Chargesheet Filed by the Mumbai Police

A Case that came before the Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police on January 1, 2022, accused 6 persons of ‘Auctioning’ more than 100 prominent Muslim Women on the Bulli Bai Application namely,

  1. Nirajkumar Nunava Singh (28 years old)
  2. Aumkareshwar Akhilesh Thakur (26 years old)
  3. Mayank Pradeep Singh Rawat (21 years old)
  4. Neeraj Dashrath Bishnoi (20 years old)
  5. Kumarvishal Sudhirkumar Jha (18 years old)
  6. Shweta Anantpal Singh (18 years old)

A Chargesheet of 917 Pages was filed before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Bandra, Mumbai.

The Application had been hosted on GitHub by one of the Accused Neeraj Bishnoi, the Prosecution claimed.

It was discovered that Neeraj relied on the source Code of a similar Application named ‘Sulli Deals’ by Aumkareshwar Akhilesh Thakur created in 2021 to create another Application called ‘Bulli Deals’.

Muslim Women active on Social Media were Particularly Targeted, alleges the Cyber Cell.

While Auctioning the Accused Portrayed themselves as Belonging to the Sikh Community. The Intention behind this Act was to Create Friction between the Two Communities.

The Accused were booked Under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act (publishing or transmitting obscene material in Electronic Form) and Under Sections 153A, 153B, 295A, 354D, 509, 500 of the Indian Penal Code in the First Information Report (FIR).

The Chargesheet later added a few more Indian Penal Code provisions, Sections 34, 120B, and 201B after it was discovered that the Accused Bishnoi, Rawat, Shweta Singh, and Niraj have Deleted Potential pieces of Evidence.

The Chargesheet enunciated that the Public Prosecutors who have the Legal Expertise and are Familiar with Technical Know-How will be Representing the Mumbai and Delhi Police to make sure that a Case of Sensitive Nature is put forth Systematically.
