The Bombay High Court has unveiled a series of strategic decisions aimed at streamlining its operations and enhancing efficiency through technological advancements.

Recent developments include the appointment of Justice DK Upadhyaya as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Among the notable initiatives is the development of new software to digitize court records, the establishment of an “AI Assisted Legal Translation Advisory Committee,” and the implementation of automated electronic services.

One innovative introduction is the creation of “Choropleth” maps. These color-coded maps, which incorporate district-wise data from the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), offer insights into statistical trends. These visual representations will facilitate data-driven policy decisions by presenting distribution patterns in an easily comprehensible manner.

The High Court has also independently designed software, including Bombay High Court ( BHC) Ingestion, BHC Interact, and BHC Connect. These programs will digitize case records and grant online access to files for staff, lawyers, and judges. BHC Connect’s functionality extends to enabling District and Taluka Courts to directly send digitized case records to the High Court, eliminating the need for duplicating the entire record.

Additionally, the High Court has implemented an AI-powered translation facility for rendering significant Supreme Court and High Court judgments into Marathi.

These strategic advancements underscore the Bombay High Court’s dedication to embracing technology to optimize judicial processes. Through digital record-keeping, the use of translation tools driven by AI, and data-driven decision-making, the High Court seeks to enhance fairness, efficiency, and accessibility in the administration of justice.
