Four Kargil-based students were granted bail on Thursday by a City Court after the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested them for alleged conspiracy in a case relating to a low-intensity explosion near the Israeli Embassy in the Capital on January 29. The Court noted that nothing incriminating had been found against them and that they were students with clean antecedents.

There were no injuries in this incident. The incident happened around 150 metres from the Embassy on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, and only some cars were damaged.

Nazir Hussain, Zulfikar Ali, Ajaz Hussain, and Muzammil Hussain, all in their 20, were granted bail by Metropolitan Magistrate Dr Pankaj Sharma, who noted the investigating officer (IO) had shown no evidence that they were related to any terrorist organisation or posed a threat to society.

“Considering the age, antecedents and the fact that all the accused persons are students having roots in the society and fixed place of abode, in the backdrop of the fact that IO has the custody of the relevant evidence, all the accused persons are ordered to be released on bail,” Justice Sharma said.

The accused’s antecedents are likewise “blemish-free,” according to the Court, which ordered them to forfeit their passports and not leave the country without permission.

The Special Cell registered a case of “criminal conspiracy” as the NIA was investigating the explosion case.

The four young guys were apprehended by the Special Cell on June 23, just days after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) offered a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for the identity of two people recorded on CCTV camera reportedly putting explosive items outside the Israeli embassy.

According to The Times of India, the students were released on a bail bond of Rs 50,000 apiece, with one surety of the same amount.
