The wife of Prayagraj Violence (June 10) accused Javed Mohammad filed a petition with the Allahabad High Court against the district administration and Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) for demolishing their home on June 12. The Petition is to be heard tomorrow by the court. (Parveen Fatima and Another v. State of UP and 5 others)

The case is listed to be heard by the Division Bench consisting of Justices Sunita Agarwal and Vikram D. Chauhan.

Fatima, the wife of the accused Javed Mohammad, has alleged in her ea that the demolished house was in her name, gifted to her by her father, and that she had all of the valid documents pertaining to the now-demolished house. She has stated that without giving them any notice, the house was demolished.

For those who are unaware, the Prayagraj Local Authorities razed Javed Mohammad’s house on June 12. He was the leader of the Welfare Party of India and the father of the activist Afreen Fatima.

The Uttar Pradesh police identified Javed Mohammad as a main conspirator and alleged that he had called for the protest (in Prayagraj) in response to the controversial remarks made by a BJP politician about the Prophet Mohammad.

In fact, she has said that because they weren’t given any notice, they didn’t have the chance to respond to this allegation. She further emphasised the fact that no department had ever objected to her for routinely paying the house’s electricity taxes, water taxes, and house tax.
