Two Maldivian Women, Mariyam Rasheeda and Fouziyya Hassan moved to Kerala High Court against the anticipatory bail plea of two former Police Officers, S Vijaya and Thmapi S Durga, involved in their arrest and detention in the matter of ISRO Espionage in 1994.

The Maldivian women alleged that the plea for bail filed by the former police officers is premature and unsustainable, and their sole motive is to get away from the clutches of the law.

The women claimed that despite being innocent they suffered for more than three years in prison because of the police officers who arrested them with wrongful allegations.

The Maldivian women were accused of leaking confidential drawings and the existing cryogenic technology to Pakistan in 1994.

The women overstayed in the country after this espionage issue which raised the suspicion of their involvement.

They specified the reason for their delay to be the flu pandemic back then and sought for extension of time. Later, applicants blocked their travel on personal vengeance.

Mariyam Rasheeda and Fouziyya Hassan also accused one of the applicants, Vijayan of sexual harassment.

“There was absolutely no credible evidence to set the law in motion. Therefore their acts were illegal and punishable. The crimes were registered against them without any lawful authority since the applicants were not competent to do so under the Indian Official Secret,” the objection application read.
