A United States Federal Appeals Court on December 17th, 2021 reinstated the Corona Virus Vaccine Mandate which would make it mandatory for workers of businesses with more than 100 employees to get Vaccinated against Covid-19 or be tested for it every week.

The Mandate was earlier blocked by a Court, as it faced a lot of criticism citing “grave Statutory and Constitutional issues.” A conservative advocacy group called Job Creators Network stated, “This mandate adds an incredible burden on small business owners who are still suffering negative effects of the pandemic.”

A Three-Judge Panel of the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati however, brought the Mandate back to power on December 17th, 2021 observing that the delay in implementing it would repeal the efforts given by many to curb Corona Virus.

The Mandate was issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which argued that the Mandate would, within the 6 months of its implementation, save more than 6,500 lives and prevent a quarter of a million hospitalizations.

The Circuit Judge Jane Stranch stated, “Fundamentally, the [rule] is an important step in curtailing the transmission of a deadly virus that has killed over 800,000 people in the United States, brought our healthcare system to its knees, forced businesses to shut down for months on end, and cost hundreds of thousands of workers their jobs.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has noted that more than 72% of the population of the United States has been Vaccinated with at least a single shot of Covid Vaccine. But it also mentioned that around 80 million citizens in the United States are not Vaccinated.
