On the 5th of November 2021, a tragedy occurred at rapper Travis Scott’s concert at Astroworld Festival in Houston, where 8 people were crushed to death and more than 300 were left injured. A lawsuit was filed on the 7th of November 2021, against Travis Scott and guest star Drake for having ‘incited mayhem.’

Texas-based law firm Thomas J. Henry Law announced the lawsuit on Twitter via a story published by the Daily Mail, the lawsuit was filed by a concertgoer and victim of the tragedy, Kristian Parades, who is seeking $1 million in damages.

The lawsuit claims, “Drake came on stage alongside Travis Scott and helped incite the crowd.” It states that the two continued to perform even as the crowd got out of control and accused the two of triggering and stirring up the crowd, which resulted in the tragedy.

The Complainant Parades is also suing the organizers’ Live Nation, and the venue, stating that she and other attendees begged security guards hired by Live Nation Entertainment for help but were ignored.

As maintained in the reports of the Houston Chronicle, which scrutinised for videos and evidence on social media, “People had begun to collapse by 9.39 pm. Soon after that, the show’s promoter agreed to stop the performance. Yet Scott appeared to complete his set, the newspaper reported. The artist finished at 10.15 pm – 36 minutes after the disaster was already apparent.”

Another lawsuit was filed by a high-profile Attorney named Ben Crump on behalf of a 21-year-old concert attendee, Noah Guitierrez. Crump is well known for fighting for Civil Rights and public injury. He has represented the families of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, who were victims of police brutality.

A statement issued by Ben Crump and his co-counsel, Bob Hilliard, states, “We are hearing horrific accounts of the terror and helplessness people experienced–the horror of a crushing crowd and the awful trauma of watching people die while trying unsuccessfully to save them.”
