The relatives of people who died in COVID-19 filed a civil lawsuit at a court in Rome seeking 100 million euros ($ 122 million) from the government.

The plaintiffs have filed the lawsuit against Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Health Minister Roberto Speranza.

The spokesperson for the politicians did not respond in any way.

The suit is brought by a committee named “Noi Denunceremo” which was set up in April to represent the families of COVID-19 victims of one of the worst affected areas – Lombardy.

The president of “Noi Denunceremo” (we will go to the court) – Luca Fusco said, “This case is our Christmas gift to those who should have done what they were supposed to do, but didn’t.”

The committee stated, “The authorities will be asked for an average compensation of 259,000 euros per person for a total outlay of around 100 million euros.”
